Ghost in the Sky

Sparklehorse, (along with Mercury Rev, Grandaddy and the Flaming Lips) were champions of ‘alternative’ indie-pop, they were a band that could sell records and retain a charm which would win over critics and the most discerning of music fans at the same time. The new album ‘Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain’ is rumoured to be frontman Mark Linkous’s bravest work yet, with collaborations from man-of-the-moment Dangermouse and everyone’s favourite Austrian Fennesz manning the mixing desk, so this limited 7” (2nd in a series) comes to us with much anticipation. ‘Ghost in the Sky’, the lead track and apparently one of the albums most upbeat cuts is an obvious choice for a single – radio friendly and the sort of track you can imagine being played extremely loud in any number of indie clubs. Flip over for an exclusive B-Side which blends glitchy electronic production with that classic Sparklehorse sway and deep emotion. If this is a taste of the new album, we’re gonna be in for a treat.
