贝托鲁奇和昆汀·塔伦蒂诺一样，是那种对流行音乐颇有心得的导演。《戏梦巴黎》由于是以1960年代为背景，在音乐上也自然有所配合。除选用1960年代文化偶像吉米·亨德里克斯(Jimi Hendrix)的一曲“Third Stone from the Sun”外，还加入了著名迷幻摇滚乐队Grateful Dead的名曲“Dark Star”(此曲由乐队为影片作特别剪辑，减短了长度)。此外，还有上世纪上半叶地位崇高的歌后Edith Piaf的“Non，Je Ne Regrette Rien”也被收录(香港作家陶杰将梅艳芳比作香港的Edith Piaf)。不知是否出于致敬的心态，贝托鲁奇还分别选了特吕弗(Francois Truffaut)与戈达尔(Jean-Luc Godard)两位法国新浪潮电影先驱的三部影片(《四百击》、《精疲力尽》与《狂人皮耶罗》)中的主题曲。
