An Open Door

简介
Debut Lp Recorded at Jackpot studios in Portland, Oregon. Abandoning their lo-fi bedroom goth passions of previous projects, Tobias and Shiloe Grave take a bold step into the dire cathedral of moody post-punk; a temple founded by artists such as The Chameleons UK, Magazine, and Danse Society. "An Open Door" is a stylish yet sullen debut that’s one part stadium rock and one part graveyard elegy.
“SOFT KILL is the project of TOBY GRAVE and his wife SHILOE ALIA (aka ‘two people playing like five’). It’s Grave’s first project after dissolving BLESSURE GRAVE—owners of one of the 20 most overlooked albums of 2010—but he isn’t labeling it the new Blessure Grave band. It’s a separate entity entirely, one that will keep fans of the earlier group’s death rock happy contentedly downcast. The writing’s done 50/50 by Grave and Alia, who started playing music together in August when ‘An Open Door’ (and other demos) emerged. Expect a nine-song full length in March via Fast Weapons, the label run by the Gossip’s Nathan Howdeshell. Until you have the complete love letter in your hands, take a listen to ‘Borders Comfort.’”—Stereogum
Awww, there's just not much cuter than a couple Goth kids in love. Toby and Shiloe Grave retired their brutally depressive Blessure Grave project (sadly) and lightened up with Soft Kill. Apparently, the couple describe this record as "an open dialog love letter in song form". Its Death Rock, Post-Punk and New Wave all in one tidy package.
