这个世界上的大多数故事,都是从“很久很久以前……”开始,但是这个不是,这个故事发生在现在,以及不算太久的未来。
一开始我们以为一定会赢得胜利,毫无疑问。然后我们觉得人类至少不会输,而到了开关被触发的一刹那,我们只能祈祷这一季的文明不要消失得那么迅速。
故事从开始到结束,比所有人认为的都要快很多,我们以为战争将会持续几年,十几年,甚至几十年,我们以为这个世界还能容纳我们一段时间,但是其实只在一瞬之间,战争来了又走,就像艾略特所说的那样,“世界就是这样告终,不是嘭的一响,而是嘘的一声”,我们只是稍微闭了一下眼睛,这个世界就再也不是我们熟悉的样子。
后来我们不得不把自己藏起来,在地图上游走,在边界上徘徊,在路过霓虹灯闪烁的城市时犹豫不决。我们不得不说服自己,那些黑暗里的灯光不再是为了我们而闪耀,那只是璀璨的废墟,硅基生命的狂欢。我们也不得不告诉自己,幸存下来未必是幸运,满眼望去,看见的一切都是恐惧。
有声音对我们说,如果我们愿意,我们仍然可以在头脑里堆积出我们记忆里世界的模样,有四季,有星光,有蜿蜒穿过城市的河流,有奔跑的孩子,有聚散离合的爱人,有充满意外的旅行,以及无数不愿意告别的夜晚聚会。
那是否就是世界的毁灭和重生?我们问。
重生和毁灭,那声音说,其实并不是无始无终的循环,这一季已经结束,那声音说,不要沉迷于妄相,也不要被自己的眼睛和神经迷惑。
声音就此消逝,就像被切断电源的无线电电波。然后在巨大的静默中,我们被发现。
Most tales in this world begin with "Once upon a time..." but not this one. This story unfolds in the present, and in a future not too distant.
At first, we believed victory was inevitable, unquestionable. Then we convinced ourselves that humanity might not lose, at the very least. But when the trigger was pulled, all we could do was pray this epoch of civilization wouldn't vanish in the blink of an eye.
From beginning to end, everything happened faster than anyone imagined. We expected the war to last years, decades, even generations. We thought the world would endure our presence a while longer. Yet in a single moment, the conflict came and went. As T.S. Eliot wrote: "This is the way the world ends / Not with a bang but a whimper." We merely blinked, and the familiar world dissolved before us.
Afterward, we became shadows—drifting across maps, lingering at borders, hesitating before neon-lit cities that pulsed with alien vitality. We forced ourselves to accept that those luminous constellations in the darkness no longer burned for us. They were glittering ruins now, carnival lights for silicon lifeforms. We whispered reminders: survival might not be mercy. Every sight filled our eyes with terror.
A voice whispered that we could still reconstruct the world from memory—seasons cycling, starlight filtering through urban canyons, rivers snaking between skyscrapers, children's laughter echoing in parks, lovers meeting and parting, journeys fraught with wonder, night gatherings where no one wanted to say goodbye.
"Is this how worlds perish and renew?" we asked.
"Renewal and destruction," the voice replied, "are not endless cycles. This season has closed. Do not cling to illusions, nor trust your senses."
Then silence—abrupt as a radio signal severed. In that immense quiet, they found us...
