Nowhere Boy根據約翰藍儂同母異父妹妹Julia Baird所寫的回憶錄Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother改編而成。娓娓道出1950年代成長於英國利物浦一個懷抱音樂夢想的少年的故事。為符合50年代英國當時的音樂氛圍，捕捉時代精神，片中所選音樂皆是導演Sam Taylor-Wood、編劇Matt Greenhalgh與音樂總監Ian Neil精挑細選。
從Jerry Lee Lewis充滿搖滾原始力量的「Wild One」、具初戀浪漫情懷，由Dickie Valentine演唱的這首搖擺樂風深情款款的「Mr Sandman」。搖滾之王貓王的「Shake, Rattle & Roll」，Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps名曲「Be-Bop-A-Lula」，象徵美國神秘野性的聲音，巫毒藍調教主Screamin' Jay Hawkins成名之作「I Put a Spell On You」。
這些歌曲讓這個傳奇故事有了生動的姿態，讓前披頭四的歷史增添具體的音樂內容。除此之外，還有名為The Nowhere Boys的多首歌曲，則是集合了披頭四成員保羅麥卡錫、喬治哈里遜、約翰藍儂等人的創作，重新編曲而成。值得一提的是片中飾演約翰藍儂的男主角Aaron Johnson 特別獻唱了「Hello Little Girl」這首輕快俏皮情歌。原聲帶最後獻上約翰藍儂1970年感人至深單曲「Mother」，這首歌以母親為題，唱出他對家庭親情的渴望，哀戚動人的歌聲讓人久久無法釋懷。
