This musical experiment of EZ3kiel started in 1999, when Joan Guillon (machines and keyboards), Yann N'Guema (bass and graphics creations) and Matthieu Fays (drums) delivered a promising record ‘Equalize-it’ featuring six tracks. In 2000, with the LP ‘Handle with care’ (Jarring Effects/Pias) the richness of the compositions and collaboration with Yann Tiersen, Sylvestre from Dit Terzi and Sir Jean from Meï teï Sho intrigued the audience and confirmed the eclectic personal style of the band.
On stage, EZ3kiel is known to create a poetic universe with aesthetic pictures and graphics. As the musical composer of the band, Yann N'Guema samples various images to create his own universe. In 2003, they came back with the second LP ‘Barb4ry’ (Jarring Effects/Pias). More refined and mature, this album affirmed the identity of the band made of mixtures, anachronisms, and musical experiments. Continuing on their journey into hip-hop, dub and electro music, EZ3kiel creates a dimension where beauty and melancholic mood are easily hustled with violence and cruelty. The efficiency of EZ3kiel resides in their power to surprise.
The elegance of their sound and visual performance makes EZ3kiel one of the most exciting bands in French electro music. The concert’s atmosphere is recreated on the DVD ‘Versus Tour,’ which comes out in January 2005. The collaboration with the classical band Daau has led to an astonishing creation, where the essence of the Renaissance is revisited in a futuristic way.
