简介
The pianist of the 20th century
If there is one pianist who is almost a prototype of the 20th century, it was probably Claudio Arrau. His first record was made in 1926 and he continued his career until shortly before his death in 1991. From his first public appearance as a five-year-old to his death, his work spanned an incredible 83 years!
During this time, many audio documents were made, also in Germany. The live recitals that Arrau gave for the stations of today's Südwestrundfunk are special. Because in them the eminent pianist performed some pieces that he never interpreted again afterwards.
Two of the three recital programs in this sensational box are now appearing for the first time, making them an absolute highlight for fans of the Chilean. The sound of the recordings has been carefully restored and is now available in the best technical processing that one could wish for.
Reviews
"A publication for everyone who thinks that important facets of Arrau's artistry have not yet come into their own due to the previous CD offer." (Fono Forum, August 2018)
