<br />In the first half of the 19th century, Flora Tristán was a leader in the European and American movements for women's rights and labor unions. She was also painter Paul Gauguin's future grandmother. A self-proclaimed pariah, she denounced the abuse of women and workers through her lucid discourse. This publication of her memoirs marks the the 200th anniversary of her birth.<br /><br /><br />En la primera mitad del siglo diecinueve, Flora Tristán—una paria, como ella misma se definía—agitó los ámbitos femeninos y proletarios de Europa y América, con una lúcida diatriba sobre los atropellos a estos grupos. Hija de un noble peruano y una joven francesa, también fue la abuela del pintor Paul Gauguin. Estas memorias sirven como homenaje en los 200 años de su nacimiento.
