Among the elderly who attend the day care facility "Ijinzaka Clinic," a groundbreaking treatment devised by the director, Tadashi Urushihara, was secretly spreading. This medical procedure, which aims for cost-effective care, deals with "disused limbs" (limbs that are unlikely to recover due to paralysis, etc.), and unexpected "positive side effects" have appeared, such as "my body and mind feel lighter" and "my harsh personality has softened." Editor Shuntaro Yagura, who hears the rumors, senses the potential to revolutionize geriatric medicine and approaches Tadashi about publishing a book.
