The husband and wife Ludva and Hedus Homolkas with their twins Péta and Máta and Ludva's parents - the granny and grandpa - arrive in the snowy Spindleruv Mlýn for a holiday. They promise to each other that they will not spoil the quite expensive holiday by quarrels. If somebody hurts the other one he/she will kneel as a punishment.

To win back his girlfriend after an unfortunate misunderstanding, a hopeless romantic decides to recreate grand gestures from famous movies.

This three-part Austrian/Czech comedy stretches the boundaries of what is considered to be humorous. Part one finds a silent film actor upset because of a rival actor's attention to the former's wife. When he kills his rival, it is only when he is strapped to the electric chair that he realizes that this is his last live scene. The second episode has the wife of an elderly British nobleman having an affair with the young gamekeeper of their estate. Part three finds a peasant woman taking a lover when her husband goes off to fight the war.

A dark and absurd road-movie comedy in which the grandmother fulfills a dream, the mother stops treating her daughters like kids, the daughters stop treating their husbands like idiots, and the father's ashes get spread all over the country. It's almost six months since he died and his ashes are still in grandma's cupboard. Everyone in the family seems to have grieved enough and each has his or her own new problems. Younger daughter, Zuzana is about to leave her husband Pavel for a slightly more successful painter of abstract pictures. Her sister, Ilona, mischievous little Leon's exhausted and pregnant mother, feels neglected by a husband who seems to enjoy referring to her as head-cheese. Their mother, Milada, feels more and more useless and constantly invades Ilona's household offering help and nearly driving her son-in-law crazy.
