Not knowing much about Margaret Mitchell except how she died, but knowing GWTW inside and out from reading it at least 5 times, this movie was a treat. I can't say how accurate it is - i.e. how much of this movie is based on fact and how much is "interpreted", but it is interesting to see where some of the characters in GWTW might have come from. And I didn't even know who the actress was that played MM until I came to see the stats on it here - imagine my surprise to see it was Shannon Doherty. I thought she did an excellent job - the Southern accent was decent too. Well, I guess I must like this movie because I'm in that over 45 grouping - and not biased against Ms. Doherty.

Young TV-star-turned-Hollywood-bad-girl Shannon Doherty stars as Pulitzer Prize-winner Mitchell, whose impulses and insecurity inspired her passionate work. Belinda Tyler (Scout Taylor-Compton) wants to be a doctor, but women were not usually permitted careers, especially one in the medical field. Drew (Patrick Levis) comes to town to get his uncle's farm in shape to sell and then return to New York to join his father's law practice. He does not want to stay in this small, unsophisticated town. But after meeting Belinda, he has second thoughts about staying. Belinda also feels something for Drew, but she is conflicted because she wants to become a doctor and then move back home so her loved ones can still get medical care from her. Even though most women of the time only married and had children, Belinda wants more. She has a calling and a great mind for medicine. Determined that it won't work between her and Drew, Belinda plans to leave to study medicine in Boston, with financial help from Mrs. Stafford-Smith. But after hearing Belinda's grandfather share how he felt about his wife, Marty, and how he knew of his feelings for her, does Drew realize he can't live without Belinda. Just as Belinda boards the stage coach, Drew arrives telling her he loves her, is willing to practice law in Boston while she is in school, and wants to move back to this small town with her once she becomes a doctor if that's what she wants. He asks for her to marry him. Knowing she feels the same way for him, Belinda accepts and finally admits to Drew that she loves him too. She and Drew are married with her family and friends present before they move to Boston together

Set in San Diego, the movie follows the desperate acts of Bill Templer head of a covert defense agency perpetrating a terrifying fraud on the American public - involving the imminent invasion of aliens - by leaking to the press a satellite image of an alien armada poised to strike earth. As terror of an alien attack spreads, the President of the United States orders the launching of Peacemaker, a surveillance satellite retrofitted with a nuclear warhead. Templer's elaborate plot is threatened when police detective Kevin Anjanette discovers that the alien images were faked. To protect his scheme, Templer swiftly unleashes the lethal head of his security, Ava Zurich, onto Anjanette. But it's soon revealed that an alien force actually does exist and is poised to strike if Peacemaker is used.
