This is a bawdy burlesque version of the famous fairy tale. Instead of Gepetto, the old-man woodcarver, we have Geppeta, an apparently frustrated and nubile young virgin. Geppeta carves Pinocchio for herself as a gorgeous young hunk. Geppeta's fairy godmother, a blonde played by Dyanne Thorne, magically transforms the young stud Pinocchio into a living man, who is quickly brought to work in the local whorehouse as a prize stud and exhibitionist. Nothing -- not even sex -- is taken seriously in this lighthearted, semi-pornographic offering. The film was originally rated X, but was later re-edited and given an R by the MPAA in 1977

故 事
1986 年的横须贺，一位神秘的来访者打破了芭月凉一直以来的 平静生活——芭月凉的父亲被一名身穿深绿色中国服，名叫蓝帝的人所杀，而这人更夺走了一个刻有龙的镜子。为了报杀父之仇，凉到处寻找蓝帝的下落，并在无意间发现父亲的遗物里发现了一封“朱元达”的信，信里更表示如果他遇到危险的时候，就要找一位名叫陈大人的人。
凉凭着这个线索了解了蓝帝所属的蛮尤门，更发现了重要的“凤凰镜”，可惜的是最后凉发现蓝帝已离开了日本前往香港，在陈大人的帮助下，凉也开始动身向香港进发，在临行前，陈大人把一封介绍信交给凉，叫他到香港后找一位桃李少老师，桃李少老师那里会有有关朱元达的资料，就这样，带着复仇的愤怒和一点点的不安，凉来到了香港……

SEGA推出电影——《莎木》，当凄美的二胡在片尾的离别雪景中奏响的时候，相信世嘉迷心中会弥漫着一股让人唏嘘不已的感受，这种感受久久不能散去，从这部《莎木》电影版中，可以看到了昨日世嘉的远去，同时又看到了新生的希望。下面来着重讨论两个问题：
A：“游戏电影”与传统电影表现手法的差异
B：《莎木》电影版真正的商业目的与未来PC平台对世嘉的重要性
与《TR》、《FF》在电影中仅使用原游戏叙事手段、人物作为线索不同的是，《莎木电影版》的整体构建在DC大作《莎木》与SEGA精神之上，再现的成份远远超过再造的成份。
《莎木》游戏是被按照“FREE”标准设计的游戏类型，其实质就是以主机与电视机屏幕为媒介，构建一个完全虚拟的现实世界——屏幕中你看到的任何地方都可以去、在现实中可以做的任何事情都可以在《莎木》中实现。说起来非常简单，但是即便以世嘉的研发实力，实现其游戏特征也是及其复杂的——第一章《横须贺》在开发阶段就做了整整四张碟片，何况这才只是整个游戏的续章，其整个内容的庞大可见一斑。最终，不可思议的“虚拟化现实”确实在游戏中得到了实现，但是其代价是巨大的，从游戏性角度上看，巨大的游戏内容与场景即便是在单线形发展剧情限定下都会让游戏主旨出现偏离，新鲜感只能从玩家进入一个全新场景之后维持很短一段时间，玩家的游戏感受蜕变为了感观在不断的陌异化中从兴奋向枯燥的循环过程。从游戏的价值来看，显然SEGA DC主机惨淡的销量确实需要强劲的软件来刺激，他们将宝全部押在了《莎木》身上，而《莎木》游戏性上一对辨正的矛盾注定它不可能成为《MGS2》这样的主机销量强心剂作品。《莎木》制作费用到后期已经让制作者预料到了“不管将来卖多少都会赔钱”，但是他们依旧倾注了大量的人力物力来完善游戏品质，为的只是存于虚幻中、根本就不可能实现的“刺激DC主机销量”目标，可见当时的SEGA已经陷入了一种绝望。给一个毫无希望的游戏大输血，有人说SEGA这种举动是“为了完美的艺术将《莎木》化作自己的绝唱”，我想任何一间商业公司都不可能放弃自己利益去哗众取宠吧，不恰当的说，也许“绝唱”应该是绝望的嘶喉才对。最终我们看到的事实不是DC热卖，而是《莎木》彻底拖垮了SEGA，最终不得不放弃主机，转型为纯软件研发厂商。对于这样一个拥有庞大架构、却费力不讨好的游戏，它与电影的特征是有矛盾的，而这些特征，在《莎木电影版》中被完全的展现出来。
