Apparently a TV special from 1977 (when Frank was a bit older than cover picture would suggest)
brings Sinatra under Nelson Riddle's musical direction,
with of plenty of fine guests...
Although I bought this cheap and because it had Tony Bennett and Natalie Cole, at my surprise, the duet with John Denver was my favorite collaboration of the DVD,
with the duet with Cole and wild rat-pack trio with Dean Martin and baritone singer Robert Merrill fighting for the second place...
Tony Bennett and Leslie Uggams also show some fine singing skills on their own and Sinatra is close enough to his prime,
so if this isn't too expensive, buy it.
But it's not essential-Sinatra DVD, nor greatest hits of Sinatra.
As the title states correctly, this is a Sinatra and friends DVD!
Good old-times fun, recorded in the 70s, but belonging in spirit to the previous decade.
And, a minor point, it's a bit under 50 minutes in length...

Dean Martin’s last recording for the Capitol label was this 1962 collection of pop standards done Afro-Cuban-Latin style, with Nelson Riddle once again waving the baton and weaving his arranging magic. Another classic!

Dino had already left Capitol for Frank Sinatra’s Reprise label by the time this album came out in February 1962, but it proved to be the most successful album he recorded for Capitol. Why? Simply put, nobody, but nobody, ever did Italian pop songs like Dean Martin. The man had been singing these songs his entire life, and it showed in the warmth, sensuality and immaculate phrasing he brought to every track.

With Dino scoring hit album after hit album for the Reprise label, Capitol released this 1964 collection of non-LP singles to capitalize on his success, and with a mixture of chart hits and B-sides, it holds its own against almost any of his other releases for the label.

Everybody loved somebody in 1964, and that somebody was Dean; that release stayed at #2 on the charts for four weeks! And 'Dream with Dean' backed him with a jazz quintet featuring Barney Kessel and Red Mitchell. Good stuff from Collector's Choice Music.

Fresh from his paint-the-town-red stay in Las Vegas during the filming of "Oceans 11" with the Rat Pack, Dino plunged into his most ambitious album to date with 1960’s ‘This Time I’m Swingin’’, which enlisted the considerable talents of arranger Nelson Riddle to craft a big-band standards album on a par with what Nelson had achieved for Dean’s pal Frank Sinatra.
