而优胜美地国家公园的半穹顶“西北壁常规线路”则高达600米，即使现代攀岩者用绳索保护和借助器械，一般都需要一天时间才能完成攀登（历史上首攀成功是在1957年，凭借器械和绳索也花了5天时间）。霍诺德继续凭借一袋镁粉完成了登顶，耗时6小时。
