Eigil's family is in a dire situation, as they must raise 500,000 kroner by the end of the month in order to remain in their home. This is where the story begins, as Snøvsen and Eigil set out into the wide world to earn money. This takes them to Federico's circus, where the shady director tries to cheat Snøvsen out of his wages. They end up in the big city, where they make lots of new friends and have lots of fun adventures before they all meet up at Tivoli Gardens for a final joint attempt to save their home.

Mogens and his wife Bitten are spending time in their summerhouse. Their beloved daughter, who has recently been left by her husband and is now alone with a newborn baby, is visiting. The family needs a quiet day together, but when their friends, Janne and husband Steen, show up a day early for a planned Midsummer Night's dinner, things start to snowball out of control - in particular for Bitten the perfectionist and for Mogens who is racked by guilt; Mogens has had an affair with Janne, who does not accept his decision to end it. As the evening progresses, Janne pushes them all into a psychological game, in which not only Mogens' marriage is at stake but also his relationship to his daughter Kira.

Oscar and Josefine are celebrating Midsummer with Oscar's grandparents in the country. A demon, Thorsen, gives Josefine the gift of enabling her to travel back in time. Visiting Oscar's family in the 17th century, Josefine saves a sickly young girl from the stake. But now the villagers see Josefine as a witch and want to burn her at the stake instead.

Denmark in the '70s. The teenager Christoffer's parents Nisse and Maria have decided to move into a commune, because they want to try the alternative lifestyle. But Christoffer doesn't like it, and has trouble adapting. In school, the others tease him because he lives in a commune. As a plan from the elders in the commune, he starts in a Maoist group to learn about the real ways of the society. He doesn't like it, but when his new girlfriend starts to see what he does as cool he goes into it. But at the same time, the police start to suspect him to be the terrorist who blows up telephone booths around Copenhagen.
