本剧以天明年间的江户贫穷长屋为舞台，是刻画在左官、暴躁者熊さん（ハナ肇 饰）和妹妹八っあん（倍赏千惠子 饰）周围掀起骚动的人情喜剧以“骆驼”、“秋刀鱼火灾”、“撞倒”、“黄金饼”等江户古典落语为题材，山田导演的第一部古装剧作品。
