Frederick is a young medieval French prince with magical powers, turned into a frog by his evil sorceress aunt, who kills his father in a bid to seize the throne. After being pursued by his aunt, the prince is saved by the Loch Ness Monster, who indebts herself to him, and hides out with a colony of anthropomorphic frogs for a time. After ultimately deciding to accept his fate and fight evil using his powers, Freddie grows to the size of an adult human, travels to the future, and becomes a French secret agent with a sentient car.

After thirty-five years abroad, Donal returns to his native Scotland to make amends with his estranged brother Sandy.

Encounters was a surreal drama series on BBC2 in the early nineties which as
far as I know has never been repeated.
The Other Side presented Sir Arthur Conan Doyle coming face to face with his
most famous creation and being forced to examine the darker side of his life and career.
The play is particularly interesting because it's the only occasion on which Richard E Grant played the detective, a
part which many Holmes fans think he's perfect for.
