This is a very humorous movie about communism and Marxism, or rather, communists and Marxists. It follows a life of a homeless, but very well read, Marxist who is coping with Che's death and wishes to live a life of revolutions and workers' uprisings. He is a hypochondriac, bitter at the world, and blaming his old capitalist boss for his life's misery.
Sijan gives a funny portray of his world and jokes about many caste of people in Yugoslavia at that time. He is using his famous and recognizable subtle humor, which combined with fine acting and a great overall story, results in a great piece of art.

One of those movies that keeps you awake at night and makes you wonder about things like bio-terrorism and stuff like that... Like your own safety in those "what if" situations... Absolutely every single segment of this movie is shocking and frightening... Music theme containing some middle-East motifs keeps playing in your mind from the very first minute of the movie, and stays in it even after you have watched it. Horrifying story of pilgrim who came back and brought along one of the deadliest diseases known to men surely sounds scary, but what makes it even more creepy is the fact that it's based on true story... The event that made the whole world vulnerable, and reminded us that no matter how strong we appear to be, there's always one invisible enemy we cannot fight and cannot defeat. Cast is terrific, some of the best Yugoslavian actors had their career highlights in this movie... Especially brilliant role of Rade Serbedzija. If you like this type of movies, this is a movie that you just cannot miss... And if you don't... Well..rent it out anyway. Highest recommendation.

World War I is coming to its end. Prisoners of war are coming into the town with Serb Ivo among them. During one of his escapes from the camp, he finds himself in a private garden. There he meets Lisa, the wife of the town-major - a severe and heartless colonel. She is sad, lonely and her meeting with the Serb develops into a deep mutual love. Their meetings become more frequent. But the lovers are doomed. The war prisoners are moved away and as Ivo comes to bid her farewell, he is shot to death. Men, women, and war. Jelena Panic is a young woman in Belgrade in the early 1990s, during Serbia's war with Croatia; she's making a book of her grandmother's diaries from the end of World War II. She takes up with Bogden, a young soldier recovering from war wounds. He helps her with her grandmother's story, a tragic triangle involving her effete and well-educated husband and an uneducated major, a Chekist who has, perhaps, the power to save a political prisoner who is the grandmother's friend. As Jelena wonders which man was her grandfather (the Chekist or the husband), Bogden recovers from his wounds and must decide whether to return to the front. Jelena pleads; duty calls. This is a great movie. See why the dead can't find peace, because of us the alive. It is hard to see greatness of this film if you don't understand Serbian. Movie starts when professor Misa find the one thing what he was searching all his life-the passage. Soon after, he dies. The dead in their world, are one by one disappointed by things that happened in the world of a living. And when the professor Misa who died recently find out what is happening in the world of a living by his pupil who committed suicide after Misa's death, he find the passage similar to one on earth. The dead go on a journey to correct the things.
