This documentary promoting the joys of life in a Soviet village centers around the activities of the Young Pioneers. These children are constantly busy, pasting propaganda posters on walls, distributing hand bills, exhorting all to "buy from the cooperative" as opposed to the Public Sector, promoting temperance, and helping poor widows. Experimental portions of the film, projected in reverse, feature the un-slaughtering of a bull and the un-baking of bread.

Working mainly during the 1920s, Vertov promoted the concept of kino-pravda, or film-truth, through his newsreel series. His driving vision was to capture fragments of actuality which, when organized together, showed a deeper truth which could not be seen with the naked eye. In the "Kino-Pravda" series, Vertov focused on everyday experiences, eschewing bourgeois concerns and filming marketplaces, bars, and schools instead, sometimes with a hidden camera, without asking permission first.

This Kino-pravda episode follows squad of Pioneers in two trips.
First one, is a trip to the vilage. Camera shows few scenes of riding train. We see some folk dancing and next Pioneers go to work in the wood-shed and on the field. Their are tought that "Ten kto rabotayet, ten Lenin, a kto ne pabotayet, ten len." - "He who works is Lenin, he who doesn't - idler." After hard work youngsters get deserved dinner.
Second trip is a visit in zoo. We see a lot of animals runnig loose, and boys and girls interacting with some of them. Particulary interesting is scene where few snakes creep through Pioneer girl.

Peace - relation from Moscow conference with Polish diplomat Janusz Franciszek Radziwiłł and diplomats fom baltic states. Vertov says that USSR sign treaty beacouse they love peace, and forgets to mention that thay do it mainly beacouse they have been defeated by Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
Atheism - we see Pioneers and honest workers taking Orthodox icons out of the walls, and we see alsa manifesting pops and elievers portrayed as freaks and lunatics.
Education - youngsters reading prints and speeches in memory of Russian botanist Kliment Timiryazev.
Health - sport activities - skiing and hockey. Military exercises.
Defence - battleship, military academy, cavalery and skiing troops.
Kino-pravda ends with warning that new war approaches and it will be brought by Germans
