Spain conquered the seas, found a new world and different realities than the one known in Europe. But a question needed to be answered with what they found in those new territories: do the Indians have souls? The Church, bound to protect and convert the natives and the conquerors who treated them like slaves and thought they were only merchandising, expose their arguments and reasonings at what would be known as the Vallidolid controversy. Between them, there's a cardinal hearing both parts and trying to get reasonable answers from this critical question.

A TV reporter and his assisstant go to a small Swiss village to do a programme with a reclusive scientist, an expert on world food shortages. During this time, an Italian immigrant worker is killed in a road crash and the reporter becomes involved in uncovering the truth about his death.

法国大导阿伦雷乃1983年作品。本片用三个故事阐述他的观点，同时向法国电影史上三位巨人致敬：梅里爱、莱皮埃、侯麦。第一个故事发生在1914年，一个贵族建立了“幸福殿堂”，邀请一帮朋友，给他们一剂特殊的药，然后把他们放进巨大的摇篮，让他们重新回到“孩提时代”；第二个故事发生在当代，依然是那个宫殿，一群专家正在召开研讨会，讨论“想像力教育”。穿插在两个故事之间是一个古代魔幻故事，讲一群森林里的孩子梦幻一场坏国王和好骑士的战争。

薇卡（苏菲•玛索 饰）是个13岁的女孩，不同于班上的其他同学父母离异的状况，她拥有一个完整的家庭，虽然她总是觉得被母亲忽略，伴随青春期到来的，除却敏感的对父母之爱的需要，还有对异性情感的渴望。然而，父母的感情出现了裂痕，母亲与薇卡的德语老师燃起了爱火花；而在舞会上认识的拉乌尔，让她感受到初恋的美好同时也领会了爱情的伤害。
