这部作品属于Robert Wiene 中期的作品 虽然成名更早，但是这部电影的质量丝毫不逊于众人皆知的《卡里加利博士的小屋》 只是那部电影实在是将表现主义的特点展现的淋漓尽致，从而被奉为经典之中的经典，属于学习表现主义的必修课。

Today as impressive as ever, DER ROSENKAVALIER remains one of the exceptional productions to have emerged from the Austrian silent film era. Hugo von Hofmannsthal and Richard Strauss’s popular stage production was adapted for the screen by CALIGARI director Robert Wiene in 1925. The reconstruction of the film undertaken by the Filmarchiv Austria together with ZDF/arte is the first to take the original score into account. The result was a much celebrated restaging of DER ROSENKAVALIER on 6th September 2006 in Dresden’s Semperoper, and it is now being presented to audiences here in Vienna.
