Graham Norton sits down with the 'Queen of Pop', singer-songwriter, record producer, actress, entrepreneur, charity founder and LGBT rights and gender equality activist Madonna. The pair discuss her lengthy career in which she has achieved 18 multi-platinum albums globally, seven Grammy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, twenty MTV Video Music Awards and an induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Follows a chaotic night out involving ambushing, worshipping, and pursuit that ultimately leads back to the dance floor.

The music video of the song was Madonna's attempt to embrace and accept her mother's death. Directed by David Fincher and shot in black-and-white, it shows a little girl playing in the snow, as her mother dies. A grown-up Madonna follows the child and sings the song, as the child runs away from her abusive father. Described by reviewers as "autobiographical", the video was listed by Rolling Stone as one of "The 100 Top Music Videos".

The 42nd Tony Awards were held on June 5, 1988 at the Minskoff Theatre and broadcast live on CBS, hosted by Angela Lansbury. (Angela Lansbury has hosted or co-hosted more Tony Award ceremonies than any other individual, with five telecasts: 1968, 1971, 1987, 1988, and 1989).
At these Tony Awards, the longest-running musical on Broadway, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera, competed for awards and received the season's Best Musical award.
Stephen Sondheim has won more Tony Awards than any other composer, with seven Tony Awards: Best Music and Best Lyrics for Company (1971); and Best Score for Follies (1972), A Little Night Music (1973), Sweeney Todd (1979), Into the Woods (1988) and Passion (1994).

Madonna performs in the music video "Vogue" from the album "I'm Breathless" recorded for Sire Records and Warner Brothers Records. Madonna sings and dances in the video that is set in Art Deco-themed 1920s and 1930s surroundings. Men and women in suits join Madonna in dancing the distinctive vogue style.

The music video was a mimicry of Marilyn Monroe's performance of the song "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" from the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The mimicked scenes are interspersed with scenes of a Hollywood director trying to win the heart of an actress, played by Madonna herself. Discovering that, contrary to her song, the young woman was not impressed by money and expensive gifts, he pretended to be penniless and succeeded in taking her out on a date. She has performed the song in five of her world tours; most of her performances of the song on tour are mimicries of the song's music video.

The Blond Ambition World Tour is the third concert tour by American singer-songwriter, Madonna. The tour supported her fourth studio album, Like a Prayer, as well as the soundtrack, I'm Breathless. The tour reached Japan, North America, and Europe. It was a highly controversial tour, mainly for its juxtaposition of Catholicism and sexuality. Rolling Stone called it an "elaborately choreographed, sexually provocative extravaganza" and proclaimed it "the best tour of 1990." In 1991, a documentary film, Truth or Dare (aka In Bed with Madonna), was released chronicling the tour. The tour received the "Most Creative Stage Production" at the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards.
