In southern France, in a quiet little town, the mayor, who also owns a castle with some cattle, is in the wine cellar with some other people: the pharmacist, the veterinary, and some of his employees. As they are drinking wine, they hear a terrible noise and the heat's getting higher and higher. They don't realize what's happening: when they come out of the cellar, they realize that everything has burned, and all the buildings are destroyed...

Argan is seriously ill. At least that's what he imagines. In order to always have at his disposal a man capable of caring for him, he decides to marry his daughter Angélique to a doctor. But Angélique is in love with Cléante. Facing her father's obstinacy and the machinations of her mother-in-law, she can only rely on help of a faithful and cunning servant of the house, Toinette. Colluding with Aral's brother, Angélique multiplies the tricks to foil conspiracies, unmask liars, and let love to triumph over the greedy interest.

'Le Bel Ete 1914' finds us in the rural French countryside, prior to the first world war. Gabriel (Robinson Stevenin) a young teen, arrives at the family summer home and immediately falls in love with a distant cousin, before causing mayhem for himself and the family.
