A young doctor has a promising career in São Paulo, but the diagnosis of a serious illness profoundly changes her relationship with the world around her.

After the death of former Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek in a car accident in August 1976, a journalist decides to investigate the case. The death of another former president, João Goulart, in December of the same year, heightens her suspicions of a conspiracy.
