摇滚乐是怎么来的呢？在片中我们看到摇滚乐的历史，也许你相信摇滚乐与美国南方黑人在采棉时所唱的采棉歌有着密不可分的关联，而接着过渡到福音歌曲、灵魂、乡村、爵士、蓝调经过时间的推演形成现在的摇滚乐风潮。这个单元带领乐迷重温摇滚乐的第一个黄金时期，埃尔维斯普里斯莱、巴迪霍利、小理察、杰瑞李刘易斯。迪克克拉克回忆“美国舞台”的起源和一段青少年偶像及扭扭舞等舞曲横扫乐坛的时期。这其中也让人感受到，摇滚乐不只是一群可爱的白人男孩在学猫王而已。摇滚乐在美国本土所掀起的风潮和它所带动的影响力，值得乐迷欣赏。

什么是摇滚乐，而摇滚乐的魅力又在哪呢？
本集中，乐坛的摇滚老将布鲁斯史宾斯汀、戴维鲍伊纷纷对摇滚乐下定义，尽管他们的解释有所不同，但是我们透过他们的言语了解到摇滚乐是何等的重要。其它摇滚乐坛熠熠红星包括小理察、米克杰格及U2的波诺谈改变他们一生的歌曲，并且收录首批摇滚巨星全盛时期的风采：马帝华特斯、查克贝瑞等，以及蒂娜透纳回忆当年在棉花田里作牛作马及梦想成为歌手的情景。另收录麦可杰克森电力十足的《比莉珍》演唱实况。

被称为代表了自由、热情和诗意的吉他，不似静止的钢琴，是流动的乐器。六弦吉他有多种弹奏的方式，再运用回声扩大器与和弦技巧，就赋予了摇滚和其它音乐完全不同的声音，因此成为了一个世代的象征。1930年开始的电吉他早在摇滚乐前就出现，在蓝调音乐先是扮演了重要的角色，之后在乡村摇滚乐中被灵活地运用，然后终于在摇滚乐中跃升为最重要的代表性乐器之一。
本集中主要记录了许多摇滚乐中吉他手的先驱如查克贝瑞、齐柏林飞船合唱团的吉米佩吉和无名英雄詹姆斯波顿等人与吉他的历史渊源。山塔那谈到玩音乐时的不断咒骂、弹奏着《爆发》的范海伦忘我的神情、摇摆唱着乡村摇滚《肯达基的蓝月》的猫王埃尔维斯普里斯莱的自在……都让人心醉神迷。比比金大谈吉他弹奏的技巧、布鲁斯史宾斯汀更将吉他的香味用比喻的方式陈述，透过屏幕，让人嗅到了吉他的气味。

John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band played their first and last performance at the Sweet Toronto Peace Festival in 1969 that featured Yoko Ono, famed guitarist Eric Clapton and renowned musicians Klaus Voorman (bass) and Alan White (drums).

This classic film captures John Lennon in the only performance with the Plastic Ono Band. The Plastic Ono Band is introduced by footage of individual performances including Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard.
