2013年11月开始，乌克兰数万民众聚集在基辅中央广场抗议亚努科维奇政F暂停与欧盟签署联系国协议，双方各部相让，持续近3个月，最终酿成流血事件，总统下台。从11月到今年3月，谢尔盖·洛兹尼萨带摄影机纪录了这一切，剪成《中央广场》。

1941年9月29日至30日两日，德国清剿部队的特遣队4A，在乌克兰辅警的协助下，在基辅西北部的娘子谷中，屠杀了33771名犹太人。这部纪录片通过呈现德国占领乌克兰和后续十年的档案片段，再现了这一悲剧的历史背景。当记忆变成遗忘、过去掩盖未来，是纪录片阐明了真相。

It was filmed in rural Russia, near the city of Smolensk. It shows a small village, where all young people are gone and only older people are left. There is shortage of basic material necessities, but at the same time they are in possession of the simple, but most important core values and elements of life: their Village, Time, Friends and Family, Children, Wedding, Thunderstorm, Morning, Conversation, Happiness, Death, Sun, Winter, and Love.

Every year on May 9th, a celebration of the Soviet victory in World War II takes place.

寄给狱中丈夫的包裹突然打回头，妻子别无选择只得远赴西伯利亚寻找答案。列宁巨像矗立，铁幕阴影无处不在，人人落魄失魂自我麻醉，对一切视若无睹。的士司机说「监狱助人生存」，妻子面对高墙却处处受尽屈辱， 丈夫依然下落不明，欲知真相代价沉重。启发自陀思妥耶夫斯基的《温柔女子》，撕破温柔尽现残酷，暴露极权压迫至今仍阴魂不散。洛兹尼萨以纯酿伏特加，为俄罗斯民族的苦难干杯，留在喉头的，是烧心灼热与苦涩回味。

« 我的幸福» （Mon Bonheur ）讲述了长途货车司机Georgy的故事。Georgy 载着满满一车货物离开了家乡，但是他突然发现自己不得不借道错误的高速公路出口，而前方不知是何处。Georgy 试图返回原路，却渐渐转入一个俄罗斯村庄。爆发力和生存渴望比人性和善良更重要。货车司机的命运究竟如何……

The Siege of Leningrad which endured a little short of 900 days and nights under the Nazi blockade during World War Two has long been of interest to me. I have viewed extensive footage over the years and was greatly looking forward to seeing this 'new approach with never-before seen archival footage'. This is how it was billed at the 2007 Sydney Film Festival. While it may be true that this actual camera footage may not have been shown before, the subject of the shots are not new. Nevertheless, the power of the film lies in its minimalist ambient approach. No Narrator telling you what the film-maker wants you to know. No dramatic music to overlay the images. One could say that the greatest technical contribution came from the Foley artists and their effective application of natural effects. Furthermore, the long lasting shots with very little editor's intrusion, capture the tedium of everyday survival. This is a true Socialist film in that it gives centre stage to the 'common people' going about their daily lives in degenerating circumstances. The great disappointment for me is its brief length of 52 minutes covering only four seasons, and not the ten seasons of the siege. Sadly, this worthy film, with its style exemplifying minimalism and UNsensationalism at its best, shot itself in the foot by not following through with the full magnitude of the event, and pulled its punches by excluding certain horrendous aspects committed by some of the starving citizens. The film-maker's 'distant' approach assumed the viewer's familiarity with the subject . Those of us who are familiar with the subject felt short-changed. Those not familiar were confused. But still worth seeing.

Digging once again into the deep archives of 20th-century audiovisual history, Sergei Loznitsa crafts this elegant, ironic mini-portrait of the galas of Paris’s Palais Garnier in the 1950s and ’60s. With his typically masterful use of montage and a minutely reconstructed soundtrack, Loznitsa revisits a sociopolitical microcosm that features adoring crowds and glimpses of Bardot, Cocteau, and Queen Elizabeth II amid the pomp and ceremony of Parisian high society.

Masculine and feminine, hard and soft, continues and interrupted, whole and fragmented. All that is encompassed by just one day at the factory.

Inspired by W.G. Sebald’s book and based on WWII archive footage, the film puts forward the question: is it morally acceptable to use civilian population as a means of war? Is it possible to justify mass destruction for the sake of higher “moral” ideals? The question remains as relevant today, as it was 80 years ago, and its urgency is tragically manifested in the current events.
