The second entry in Marker's three-short 'video haiku' series focusing on animals, Bestiare.
This is an entrancing study of one of Marker's favorite animals, the owl.
A visit to an aviary yields a rhythmically edited series of close-ups of the rapidly rotating or intently staring feathered heads of a colorful variety of owls, accompanied by an ambient electronic soundtrack.

Marker’s OWLS AT NOON Prelude: The Hollow Men is a 19-minute looped media installation commissioned by the Museum to celebrate its reopening in Manhattan.
The text- and image-based media work, which is the first in Marker’s ambitious multipart history of the 20th century, takes as its starting point T. S. Eliot’s poem ‘The Hollow Men’ (1925), which evokes the repercussions of World War I.

一个男人在自家后院，通过自身的智慧与奇思，建造出一艘宇宙飞船，并驾驶这艘飞船环游整座城市。男人先后遇见了正在沐浴的女士和竞选的官员。面对女士，他选择偷窥；而面对官员，他选择捉弄，将其的帽子据为己有。接着，他飞向太空，遇见了正在对决的两艘飞船。其中强势的飞船无故攻击了男人，男人便与另一艘飞船合力将其击落。但不久后，男人的飞船又因时空错乱而被损毁，不得已，将雨伞作为降落伞迫降。他的宠物猫头鹰自始至终一直陪伴在他身边，从未离开。不料，之前的合作伙伴——火箭突然将伞击毁，男人坠落到自家后院……

法國導演克里斯．馬克拍攝的紀錄片經典，用詩化的手法與影像，記錄了當時剛建國十年左右的以色列現況。近一小時的片長，透過幾乎不帶情緒的旁白，與看似不經意俯拾記錄的影像，從畫面中的人物、景觀、城市樣貌，對以色列特殊的政治文化背景，做出獨樹一幟的解讀；而聲音蒙太奇上的靈活運用，亦讓影像產生更豐富多元的意涵。

电影贯穿于一个女声读信的呓语中，日本、冰岛、几内亚、香港各种影像交叉着，但作者把最多的时间留给了东京。他去记录日本人民的文化和生活，标志性的招财猫，宗教仪式，性文化，漫画，铁道，珍珠港，摇滚乐，街上的舞蹈.....为观众呈现经济奇迹后的日本最真实的一面。作者用影像寄托着他对人类现状的关注，对历史和记忆的思考。

遍野废墟，末世凄凉。男主人公（达沃斯·哈内赤 Davos Hanich饰）成为核战爆发后少数存活下来的人类。他幼年时梦中总是目睹一名陌生男子的死亡，这也使得他成为了时光旅行的实验品。他被送往核战爆发前夕的过去，他在堤岸上遇见一位女子（海伦·夏特兰 Hélène Chatelain饰），并且爱上了她。当实验快结束时，他又要被送往躲过浩劫的未来。但是他拒绝了这个机会，势要与自己心爱的女子在一起。然而到最后，他才恍然发现，幼年时常梦见的死亡，原来正是自己。
这部由新浪潮左岸派代表人物克里斯·马克执导编剧的科幻先锋派短片《堤》，是科幻片历史中的一座里程碑。全片用完全静止的画面，模拟人类对往事的印象，讲述一个世界末日后的故事。简洁有力的音效氛围，流畅凝练的剪辑镜头，配上如诗如梦的旁白语言，一段梦中破碎的记忆被描画得触目惊心。
