So schön und malerisch die bretonische Hafenstadt Cancale sich ihren Besuchern zeigt, so holprig gestaltet sich bereits die Anreise für die junge Anwältin Lissi Strack. Sie reist mit ihrer Mutter Silvia, der taffen Inhaberin einer international renommierten Fachkanzlei für Insolvenzen, die in Cancale eine ansässige Austernzucht sanieren oder alternativ kurz und bündig abwickeln möchte. Als Silvia bei der Anreise von dem jungen Alain Demur angefahren wird, bleibt ihr nichts anderes übrig, als die Rückreise anzutreten. Für Lissi eröffnet sich damit die Chance, für ihre Mutter einzuspringen, eigenständig einen Investor zu finden und sich so endlich zu beweisen. Leichter gesagt als getan: Denn die Belegschaft zeigt sich kämpferisch und wenig kooperativ - so sehr Lissi auch versucht, eine für alle Beteiligten zufriedenstellende Lösung zu finden.

Corrupt guards, corrupt lawyers and judges, a consul who doesn't care and frequent beatings are only part of the terrible prison.
