A celebration of girlhood and the complexities that come with it, Cookie Queens is a coming-of-age story about the joys, pressures, and tensions woven into one of America’s most cherished rituals: Girl Scout Cookie season.

While locked-up for six years in United States federal prison for a drug offense, artist Jesse Krimes secretly creates monumental works of art that are smuggled out, piece-by-piece—including an astonishing 30-foot mural made with prison bed sheets, hair gel, and The New York Times—only seeing them in totality upon coming home. As Jesse's work captures the art world's attention, he struggles to adjust to life outside. Jesse’s journey lays bare the dehumanizing experience of the justice system, and enduring human resilience.
The story unfolds in original footage as well as animation, which is created by the filmmakers in collaboration with artist Jesse Krimes.

In 1961, three young, visionary architects were commissioned by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara to create Cuba’s National Art Schools on the grounds of a former golf course in Havana, Cuba. Construction of their radical designs began immediately and the school’s first classes soon followed. Dancers, musicians and artists from all over the country reveled in the beauty of the schools, but as the dream of the Revolution quickly became a reality, construction was abruptly halted and the architects and their designs were deemed irrelevant in the prevailing political climate. Forty years later the schools are in use, but remain unfinished and decaying. UNFINISHED SPACES charts the journey through almost boundless creative ambition, the destructive force of bureaucracy, and the aftermath on the lives of the architects. It’s a stunning film, both in narrative and photographic terms.
