The 120 Days of Sodom by Marquis de Sade relates the story of four wealthy men who enslave 24 mostly teenaged victims and sexually torture them while listening to stories told by old prostitutes. The book was written while Sade was imprisoned in the Bastille and the manuscript was lost during the storming of the Bastille. Sade wrote that he "wept tears of blood" over the manuscript's loss. Many consider this to be Sade crowing acheivment.

Justine, or the Misfortunes of Virtue [图书] 豆瓣
作者: Marquis de Sade 译者: John Phillips 出版社: Oxford University Press 2013 - 1
'I have become whore through goodwill and libertine through virtue.' Orphaned and penniless at the age of twelve, the beautiful and devout Justine embarks upon her remarkable odyssey. Her steadfast faith and naive trust in trust in everyone she meets destine her from the outset for sexual exploitation and martyrdom. The unending catalogue of disasters that befall her, during which she is subject to any number of perverse practices, illustrate Sade's belief in the primacy of Nature over civilization. Virtue is no match for vice, and as criminality and violence triumph, Justine is doomed to suffer. Sade's writings have become a byword for transgression and obscenity, and the logical amorality of his philosophy still has the power to shock. By overturning social, religious, and political norms he puts under scrutiny conventional ideas of justice, power, life, and death. Justine is a ferocious physical and intellectual assault on absolute notions of good and evil, and as such, one of the earliest literary manifestos for atheism. ABOUT THE SERIES: For over 100 years Oxford World's Classics has made available the widest range of literature from around the globe. Each affordable volume reflects Oxford's commitment to scholarship, providing the most accurate text plus a wealth of other valuable features, including expert introductions by leading authorities, helpful notes to clarify the text, up-to-date bibliographies for further study, and much more.
Justine [图书] 豆瓣
作者: Marquis de Sade 出版社: Harper Perennial 2009 - 1
'Justine' was the Marquis de Sade's first novella, written in 1787, whilst imprisoned for two weeks in the Bastille. Although published anonymously, de Sade was eventually indicted for blasphemy and obscenity (without trial) for the authorship of 'Justine' at the behest of Napoleon Bonaparte. Who suffers in the pursuit of desire? The Countess de Lorsange reveals her history, in a tavern, to a young woman named Therese; where a young girl and her sister fight a battle of morality. Set in a period before the French Revolution, Justine shows the battle of virtue versus vice, where earning your keep takes on fresh connotations, and a titled lady holds a lifetime of illicit secrets.
The Complete Marquis de Sade, Vol. 1 [图书] 豆瓣
作者: Marquis de Sade 出版社: Holloway House 2005 - 5
A rare two-volume translation of Marquis de Sade's titillating and shocking writings, The Complete Marquis de Sade has now been released by Holloway House Publishing in a single trade edition-size volume to commemorate the first printing's 40th anniversary. Adorned with gripping cover art by Man Ray and translated by renowned scholar Dr. Paul J. Gillette, this dramatic collection includes "Justine," "Juliette," "120 Days of Sodom," "Philosophy In the Bedroom," and many other writings often scattered among "pastiche" versions of de Sade's work. The Complete Marquis de Sade is also free of the author's reprtitions, polemics, and syntactically complex 18th century phrases that plague many unedited versions of his writing. "The best English language edition of de Sade we've seen in many a year," writes Paris Jour of the Holloway House release. "Crisp, bold, and diabolically direct...This is the translation against which all future attempts must be compared."
