Succession is an HBO satyrical drama that follows the fictional Roy family headed by the patriarch / media mogul Logan Roy. The acclaimed series centers on its four children as they attempt to keep their empire afloat, while also jockeying for position to run the company (and thus the family) when Logan moves on. The series stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Hiam Abbass, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, and Alan Ruck.
The music for Succession comes from none other than Nicholas Britell ( Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk, Vice, The Big Short). The smart mix of classical elements with straight hip hop beats and ingenious arrangements have led the Main Title Theme to be nominated for an Emmy.

Also included are the original songs Just Look Up performed by Ariane Grande & Kid Cudi and co-written by themselves, Britell & Taura Stinson (to be released tomorrow) and Second Nature written by Britell & Justin Vernon and performed by Bon Iver. Don’t Look Up is written and directed by Adam McKay and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Michael Chiklis, Melanie Lynskey and Himesh Patel. The comedy follows two astronomers who go on a media tour to warn humankind of a planet-killing comet hurtling toward Earth. The film will be released in theaters on December 10 before premiering on Netflix on December 24.

Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack albums for the Amazon limited series The Underground Railroad featuring the show’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight, The Big Short, If Beale Street Could Talk, Vice, Battle of the Sexes). Sony Masterworks will release the official soundtrack album for the musical drama Carmen. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight, Andor, If Beale Street Could Talk, Cruella, Don’t Look Up), as well as the movie’s original songs written by Britell, Taura Stinson, Julieta Venegas & Tracy “The D.O.C.” Curry. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, April 21. Carmen is co-written and directed by Benjamin Millepied and stars Melissa Barrera, Paul Mescal, Rossy de Palma and The D.O.C. The modern-day reimagining of Bizet’s opera and Prosper Mérimée’s novella of the same name follows a young and fiercely independent woman who is forced to flee her home in the Mexican desert and – together with a border patrol agent – travels to Los Angeles. The drama, which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, will be released theatrically in Los Angeles and New York on April 21 by Sony Pictures Classics before expanding to more markets in the coming weeks.

Britell says, “The score for Season 4 represents the culmination of my musical vision for ‘Succession.’ With its depths of pathos and its simultaneous capacity for comic absurdity, ‘Succession’ has presented me with a truly extraordinary story to underscore.” He adds, “The 25 pieces on this album are a final summary of my music and of the sound I’ve created for the show.”
Elsewhere, Britell incorporates choir. Heard in the music piece, “With Open Eyes.” The cue closes out the 90-minute finale.
The album launch also marks the launch of Britell’s new label, Lake George Music Group. “It has long been a dream of mine to release music through my own label, and I’m tremendously excited to have the final season of ‘Succession’ as our label’s first release.”
