Chouchou, un jeune Maghrébin, débarque clandestinement à Paris dans la seule intention de retrouver son neveu. Recueilli par le Père Léon et le Frère Jean, en charge d'une paroisse de banlieue parisienne, Chouchou trouve un emploi : assurer l'entretien du cabinet d'une psychanalyste, le docteur Nicole Milovavitch, et recevoir ses clients.
Ce dernier se rend bientôt à Clichy à la recherche de son neveu, devenu "Vanessa", chanteuse romantique au cabaret L'Apocalypse.
