《另一个人：变形者札记》是《船夫日记》的续篇，写于1991到1995年，是凯尔泰斯日记体哲思文集的第二部。凯尔泰斯延续了《船夫日记》中对尼采、卡夫卡、维特根斯坦、加缪、贝克特、伯恩哈德等人广阔的阅读和对话。然而，相比《船夫日记》，本书与作者当时的生活经验联系更为紧密，在五年的记录中，可以看到作者游历欧陆各国。在这些游历的记录中，将日常生活中的吉光片羽，与对生命、人性、民族、自由、伤痛等不间断的思考，与自己的文学创作观念结合起来。看似散落的碎片，而加以艺术的表达。虽然其中有鲜明的国家和民族意识的痕迹，但作者对人在大的历史命运中艰难选择的反思，至今仍有启发意义。
