を蔵原惟繕が監督し映画化。主演の浅丘ルリ子の100本出演記念映画として製作された。拓治は13歳の時にきよのという少女と出会った。やがて水産学校を卒業した拓治は、山できよのと再会した。きよのは平家集落の娘だったが、因習を破って拓治と結婚した。しかし拓治のもとに召集令状が届き、彼は戦地へと向かった。戦地で右脚を負傷した拓治は佐世保病院に入り、きよのの看病で回復した。拓治は漁師として働き出すが、ある日、きよのの親友である泰子の夫が戦死したと聞かされる。
