故事发生在1929年的台湾，那一年，多桑（蔡振南 饰）来到了这个世界。成年之后，多桑结婚成家，并有了三个可爱的孩子。然而，生活对于多桑来说是贫困而艰苦的，他在金矿场工作所得根本无法承担起家中巨大的开支，为此，多桑的妻子不得不外出做木工，以补贴家用。
屋漏偏逢连夜雨，金矿场倒闭了，家中失去了最大的经济来源。五年过去，多桑重回职场，当上了一名煤矿工人，并渐渐向上发展，最终成为了山中矿场的村长。人到中年，多桑终于患上了几乎所有煤矿工人都会患上的气喘病，不堪忍受病痛的折磨，多桑只能退休，没过多久，他便被送入了医院，只能依靠器械维生。

由金马影展发起之《10+10》电影联合创作计划，号召台湾电影人大团结，共汇聚二十位台湾电影导演，每人分别拍摄五分钟短片，以「台湾特有」为中心题旨，但不限形式与剧本内容，完全授权给每一位导演自由发币挥、想象与创作。《10+10》意谓这二十位导演将拍摄出片长一百分钟的电影， 影展也期待这聚合一气的影响力，激发出远超过影片本身的庞大能量！
这二十部“台湾特有”的短片，类型有温馨、有纯爱、有惊悚、有纪录、有荒谬、有黑色喜剧、有社会写实亦有魔幻想象，有旧日重现亦有当代现况，议题包涵了城乡差距、时代变迁、自我嘲讽、校园暴力、家族情感、青春情怀、媒体力量、历史回顾等等，全面观照了台湾社会过去这百年来的变迁，也从中掏洗出历史洪流里不可或忘的记忆与情感。金马影展期待《10+10》不仅只是一部电影，在值此百年之际，汇聚这些优秀导演们的创作能量，透过影展向国际发声，让台湾的文化与创意软实力更被全世界看见。
1、释放　Destined Eruption　／　导演：王小棣　／　演员：寇家瑞、廖文莉
台东乡下，只身出外过夜的女人，惊觉房里来了一位不速之客。以默片与有声片的对比，呈现城乡的差距。王小棣的作品不仅为台湾电视界灌注了创作清流与社会关怀，她的电影也秉持着同样的角度，认真看待台湾，关心人群，充满淑世与亲合的魅力。
2、谢神　The Ritual　／　导演：王童　／　演员：蔡明修、谢其文
尊天地、敬鬼神，乘续《无言的山丘》，王童导演再度以「兄弟」为主角，讲述一对兄弟到山上去还愿的故事。美术出身，后来成为出色的导演。他的台湾三部曲《稻草人》、《香蕉天堂》、《无言的山丘》生动刻画了日据时代到国民政府迁台后的变化，他个人也囊括了六座金马奖。
3、无国籍公民　The Orphans　／　导演：朱延平　／　演员：小甜甜
弱智的少女与盲眼的大叔，是无法取得台湾身分证的缅甸孤军遗族，在城市里的生活，彷如「异域」一般烽火连天。朱延平是台湾近三十年来最具票房价值的导演，现任中华民国电影事业发展基金会董事长，他表示将在这部短片一反大众对他的喜剧印象，一定要观者感动落泪。
4、100　／　导演：何蔚庭　／　演员：郑金山
纪录了一位百岁老爷爷的日常，每一天，循着一样的山区小路，走到遥远的信箱去拿信。荣获第四十七届金马奖最佳新导演的何蔚庭，在马来西亚出生、长大，在美国学电影，来台湾发展成家、落地生根。短片作品及在坎城影展大放异彩，长片处女作《台北星期天》也颇受好评。
5、有家小店叫永久　A Grocery Called Forever　／　导演：吴念真　／　演员：李永丰
连老邻居都去隔壁的7－11买饮料了，过沟乡下的「永久」杂货店生意冷清清，到底要不要把店给收了，老人和儿子用一个打赌来决定！吴念真是台湾最多人认识的欧吉桑，并以出色的剧本获得多座金马奖肯定，跨足电影、电视、广播、广告、舞台剧，亲切的主持风格与广告演出，家喻户晓。
6、黄金之弦　La Belle Epoque　／　导演：侯孝贤　／　演员：舒淇、梅芳
铜锣古厝，年轻女子望着充满记忆的首饰，想起小时候阿祖穿戴着它们，牵她去买菜的往事。时光与物件，照亮了午后。国际知名导演侯孝贤经典作品不胜枚举，曾以《悲情城市》荣获威尼斯影展金狮奖，《童年往事》、《戏梦人生》也分获柏林影展影评人费比西奖、坎城影展评审团奖。是目前台湾影坛的领头人物与新锐导演们的标竿。
7、到站停车　Bus Odyssey　／　导演：沈可尚　／　演员：谢欣颖、张少怀
公交车司机每天谨守交通规则，时时提醒乘客礼让老弱妇孺，有一天，一名男子硬扯开车门想冲上车…。沈可尚曾以纪录片《野球孩子》荣获台湾国际纪录片双年展台湾奖首奖，并参与李安及李岗导演的推手计划《朱丽叶》，目前正筹拍第一部剧情长片《赛莲之歌》。
8、小夜曲　Green Island Serenade　／　导演：侯季然　／　演员：纪露霞、简嫚书、黄河
1954年的新公园放送亭，播送着纪露霞唱的绿岛小夜曲，人群静静谛听，2011年的录音室，75岁的纪露霞，继续幽幽唱着。侯季然短片曾获台北电影节百万首奖，首部剧情长片《有一天》入围柏林影展、金马奖，文学气息浓厚，是广被看好的台湾新导演。
9、诸神的黄昏　The Dusk of the Gods　／　导演：张艾嘉　／　演员：张训玮、周洺甫
改编吕政达散文「诸神的黄昏」。教诲师写给死刑犯的一封信，是残暴社会中的一抹温柔。张艾嘉编导演全才，不但曾以《碧云天》、《我的爷爷》、《最爱》三度荣获金马奖影后及女配角，她所导演的《最爱》、《心动》、《20、30、40》也相当脍炙人口。多元的才华与成就，让她早已在华语影坛占有一席之地。
10、1949穿过黑暗的火花　Sparkles　／　导演：张作骥
公元1949年，在金门古宁头大战的炮火下，一个小女生历经了她人生中最奇特的经验。张作骥将台湾写实电影带到了魔幻的新领域，无论《忠仔》、《黑暗之光》、《美丽时光》、《当爱来的时候》都获得极高评价，两度摘下金马奖最佳影片，也曾获得东京影展大奖及入围威尼斯影展正式竞赛。
11、海马洗头　Hippocamp Hair Salon　／　导演：陈玉勋　／　演员：李烈、柯一正、柯宇纶
人的记忆都存在大脑的海马回里，而「海马洗头店」可以让你有选择性的，把快乐或悲伤的记忆刷洗干净……。陈玉勋是台湾最幽默的喜剧家，以《热带鱼》、《爱情来了》建立他独一无而的喜剧风格，并以多支广告打响名号，炙手可热。去年以《朱丽叶》重返影坛，正在筹拍武侠喜剧大戏《必杀技》。
12、初登场　The Debut　／　导演：陈国富　／　演员：曾佩瑜、王丁筑
民国五十七年，年方十五的少女歌手独坐化妆镜前抹泪，因为排演出错挨了制作人的骂，眼看上镜机会要溜走，一场如梦似幻的奇遇，改写了她的命运，也写下华语歌坛的传奇史页。影评出身的陈国富，曾拍摄《我的美丽与哀愁》、《征婚启事》、《风声》等片，近年于华谊兄弟影业公司担任总监制。
13、256巷14号5楼之1 LANE 256　／　导演：陈骏霖　／　演员：张孝全、张韶涵
即将结婚的情侣准备搬进新家，因为楼梯太小而扛不上去的洗衣机，用吊车悬吊起来，在城市的天空中缓缓摆荡着。在美国求学长大的新锐导演陈骏霖，短片《美》曾获得柏林影展最佳短片，长片处女作《一页台北》荣获柏林影展奈帕克奖，独特的眼光，让他拍出来的台湾，特别与众不同。
14、唱歌男孩　The Singing Boy　／　导演：杨雅　／　演员：吴中天、李冠毅、丘芹铨
男孩每天被老师揍，但总是一直微笑唱着快乐颂，女孩永远是班上的第一名，却也想和他唱一样的歌。杨雅？导演过多部精彩的电视单元剧，并获得金钟奖的肯定。第一部电影《囧男孩》叫好叫座，让他入围了金马奖最佳导演，第二部剧情长片《女朋友，男朋友》正在拍摄中。
15、老人与我　Old Man　＆　Me　／　导演：郑文堂
迷路的老人独自走在乡间小路上，他说，他忘了回家的路，却想起很多回忆，他说，谢谢那天出来找寻他的大家。从纪录片到电视再到电影，郑文堂曾以《梦幻部落》获得威尼斯影展影评人周最佳影片及金马奖评审团特别奖，《眼泪》也荣膺金马影展开幕片。目前担任宜兰县文化局局长，但并未忘情电影。
16、潜规则　Unwritten Rules　／　导演：郑有杰　／　演员：吴中天、高英轩、黄健玮、张捷、廖苡乔
电影剧组来到拍摄现场，发现一大面青天白日满地红，导演慌张要剧组解决，否则电影不能卖到大陆，引发一连串荒谬好笑的过程。郑有杰长片处女作《一年之初》荣获金马奖年度杰出台湾电影与台北电影节百万首奖，《阳阳》则入选柏林影展。除了编导，他也时常参与电视、电影的演出。
17、有一好没二好　Something's Gotta Give　／　导演：萧雅全　／　演员：林辰唏、王品涵
穿着小礼服的少女冲进正在打烊的内衣店，因为她的Nu Bra扣环断了，店员有两个选择，请她出去，或是解决她的问题。知名广告导演萧雅全曾以电影处女作《命带追逐》夺得台北电影节最佳影片，新作《第36个故事》获得金马奖最佳电影歌曲，也在银幕下对台北的咖啡生活文化带来奇妙的影响。
18、KEY　／　导演：戴立忍　／　演员：桂纶镁
繁忙的城市、熙来攘往的人群，有着美丽身影的女孩，愉快的看着身旁的一切，她在大楼内折射出街灯燃起的朦胧中跳起舞。戴立忍曾以演员身份多次获得金马奖、金钟奖的肯定；演而优则导，曾以《两个夏天》获得金马奖最佳短片，并以《不能没有你》获得金马奖最佳影片、导演、编剧等大奖。
19、回音　Reverberation　／　导演：锺孟宏　／　演员：高捷、陆弈静、戴立忍
四个恶霸国中生在厕所里欺负一个胖胖的同学。晚上，胖同学的叔叔带着一群彪形大汉，一一拜访这些同学的家。锺孟宏曾以纪录片《医生》入围金马奖，剧情长片处女作《停车》入选坎城影展，并获得金马奖国际影评人费比西奖，近作《第四张画》荣获金马奖最佳导演、女配角及年度杰出台湾电影奖。
20、登场　Debut　／　导演：魏德圣　／　演员：林庆台
林庆台，在南澳小村落土生土长的牧师，在电影《赛德克·巴莱》中饰演主角－莫那鲁道。在面对国际媒体、走向银光幕前之际，他想向上帝说些什么。魏德圣以《海角七号》创下台湾影史最高国片票房纪录；新作《赛德克巴莱》也是台湾至今耗资最巨的史诗电影。他的每一部，都在替台湾电影写下新纪录。

《阿祖的儿子》是台湾新电影代表人物之一吴念真于2004年执导的电视纪录片。本片它视角平实，真挚动人，通过阿祖与阿宏这个“隔代培养”的个案，透视台湾整个现代社会在教育与培养下一代方面所產生出來的诸多问题。

《人間條件》系列以不同的角度關心在台灣這篇土地上的市井小民。這次《人間條件六-未來的主人翁》吳念真將描寫六七年級生的故事，一個薪水一直不漲，房價、物價一直飛漲的年輕世代。
這群六七年級生，各自努力著，也各自面對著現實社會的生活壓力，到底該如何面對與自處。

吳念真說：「我們以前只要肯努力，就能達到目標，但現在年輕人雖持續努力，卻只能讓生活過得輕鬆一點。我想跟他們說：我知道你們其實很辛苦；我還想告訴我的同輩：他們這一代或許衣食無缺，但真的沒比較好命。」

The news comes that Beverly's boat is missing, ramping up the fears that he has committed suicide. Ivy's older sister Barbara arrives from Boulder, Colorado with her husband Bill and 14-year-old daughter Jean. Barbara has not visited her mother in several years, and has mixed feelings about returning to the house because of the confrontational nature of their relationship. They fall into an argument almost immediately, during which Violet accuses her of abandoning her family and breaking her father's heart.

Later in the evening, Jean bonds with Johnna after the older woman allows her to smoke some marijuana in her room. She confides to Johnna that her parents are separated and are attempting to hide the fact from the family. Bill and Barbara argue over the cause of their separation as they make a bed out of the fold-out sofa in the living room: Bill is sleeping with a much-younger woman, one of his students at the university where he teaches. At five AM, the local sheriff, Deon Gilbeau (Barbara's high school boyfriend) rings the doorbell and breaks the news that Beverly has been found drowned. Barbara goes to identify the body as Violet comes downstairs in a drug-addled fog. The act ends with her spiraling into confusion.

Act Two
Several days later. The family has come from Beverly's funeral. Violet spends a quiet moment alone in Beverly's office, bitterly reproaching him for leaving her, and takes some more pills. Before the memorial dinner prepared for the family by Johnna, several family arguments and scenes arise. Ivy and Barbara's sister Karen has flown in from Florida with her new fiancé and can talk about nothing except her wedding plans, distressing Barbara. During an argument with her mother and Mattie Fae, Ivy unwittingly confesses that she is seeing someone romantically but refuses to say who. Mattie Fae and Charlie's son Little Charles has overslept and missed the funeral. His father is sympathetic but Mattie Fae is, as usual, rude to and critical of her son. Karen's fiancé Steve discovers that Jean is a pot-smoker and offers to share his stash with her, lewdly flirting with the teenaged girl. In a private moment, it is revealed that Ivy's lover is actually Little Charles, her first cousin.

Ivy reports that Violet's doctor thinks she has brain damage, and the three sisters share a drink in their father's study, discussing their mother. Ivy reveals that she and Little Charles are planning to run away to New York, and refuses to acknowledge the need for someone to take care of Violet. She reveals that it was Violet, not Beverly, who was heartbroken when Barbara left Oklahoma. Violet enters, now more coherent and off her drugs but no less incorrigible, is resigned to dealing with her demise on her own terms. She discusses a depressing story from her childhood with her daughters. In a private moment, Barbara and Violet apologize to each other, but it is uncertain how long the peace will last.

She is shocked when Mattie Fae reveals that Little Charles is not Ivy's cousin but her half-brother, the result of a long-ago affair between Mattie Fae and Beverly. She refuses to tell Ivy or Little Charles the truth, leaving it up to Barbara, who knows that the news will destroy Ivy, to find a way to end the incestuous affair.

Johnna walks in on the scene and attacks Steve with a frying pan; the noise brings Jean's parents and Karen to the scene. An ugly argument follows when Jean defensively lashes out at her parents with hurtful comments about her father's affair, and Barbara slaps her. Karen leaves with Steve, choosing to lie to herself and mistakenly blaming Jean for what happened.
