Kevin Costner is best known as an actor, director, and producer, and he has been involved in many movies, including <The Bodyguard>, <Field Of Dreams>, <Dances With Wolves>, <The Untouchables>, and <Silverado>, but he has always been close to music, learning guitar and piano as a kid and singing in church choirs and school productions. He began performing as a musician before his movie career took off, sparked by meeting John Coinman in Los Angeles during an acting workshop. The two began playing and writing music together, forming the band Roving Boy with mutual friend Blair Forward. Roving Boy had some modest success, releasing an album, <Simple Truth>, and even scoring a number one single in Japan, but as Costner's film career took off, there wasn't a lot of time for music and the group grew more inactive, although the three friends would still get together to play and write behind the scenes on occasion, and now and then would hit the stage for a quick gig. One such performance in 2005 made Costner realize how good playing music felt, and he began to find more time to spend with the band. Adding Teddy Morgan, Larry Cobb, and Park Chisolm to the lineup and changing the band name to Kevin Costner & Modern West, the group began working on an album, <Untold Truths>, which was released in 2008 by Universal South. Two years later, Costner & Modern West released <Turn It On>, which initially appeared only in Europe. <From Where I Stand>, a third record from Modern West, appeared in the fall of 2011; the following summer, the group provided the soundtrack for Costner's History Channel mini-series <Famous For Killing Each Other: Music From And Inspired By Hatfields & McCoys>.

Since 1989, Nena has consistently continued working as a solo artist, releasing albums of songs composed mainly by herself and befriended musicians she chooses as co-authors. She has chosen not to have a permanent band (as had been the case in the '80s), neither in the studio nor on tour. Her first solo tour came in 1993, then pregnancies led to a minimum of live appearances (Nena has four children) until 1997. Since then, she has been touring (mainly Germany) once or twice a year (remarkably backed predominantly by U.S. musicians in addition to Germans). Throughout the '90s, she was to be seen regularly on German TV (including hosting a variety show series called Metro during 1993). She has stayed true to her unique musical blend of melodic vocals (reminiscent of Connie Francis) paired with a rock style ranging from the variety of the Beatles to the harder sounds of the Rolling Stones or even the Ramones (with the harder rock sound being her preferred style when on tour). Since 1990, she has also additionally made a number of albums specifically for children and done voiceovers or contributed songs to two cartoon movies and one cartoon series. WEA. 2005.

Mit "20 Jahre - Das Jubiläumsalbum" steht jetzt ein Werk in den Läden, das nur olle Kamellen aufwärmt, aber nichts wirklich neues bietet. Der Hörer begibt sich auf eine Erkundungstour durch das Leben von Pop-Ikone Nena, die sich seltsam müde durch die Tracklist schleppt. Auf dieser Reise in die Vergangenheit begleiten sie u.a. Kim Wilde, Udo Lindenberg, Joachim Witt, TokTok und die Söhne Mannheims.
Die gesangliche Unterstützung ist sicherlich nicht verkehrt, jedoch mutet es schon seltsam an, dass man ausgerechnet Udo Lindenberg heranzieht, um Nenas schwache Leistungen zu überdecken. "99 Luftballons" stellt einen guten Anfang der Platte dar, weil die neue Version des Kulthits frisch und modern klingt. Das durch Jan Delay bekannt gewordene "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" weiß durch Kim Wildes Gastauftritt ebenfalls zu überzeugen.

Die Platte versinkt jedoch nach dem guten Start leider viel zu schnell in zähen, unmotivierten Rockgewässern und verliert so an Kreativität. Erst ab "Es regnet" kämpft sich Nena langsam aus den belanglosen Untiefen frei. Auch "Lichtarbeiter" schafft mit seiner ruhigen Konzentration Autarkie und lässt die Seele baumeln. Doch die Befreiung aus der Depression endet abrupt.

Mit "Vollmond" nimmt die Platte erneut eine sehnsüchtige Stimmung an, Melancholie und Fernweh erhalten neue Nahrung. Die Platte fällt wieder in ein tiefes Loch und lässt sich auch trotz nachgeworfener "Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann"-Strickleiter nicht mehr komplett retten. Die depressiven Rückblenden nehmen einfach überhand und erschweren dank drucklos-leidenden Sounds den Genuss des Albums.

Die zwanzigjährige Rückblende klingt eher nach einem großen Seufzer als nach einem durchaus angemessenen Jubelschrei. Das von der heutigen Generation kaum beachtete NDW-Haus findet trotz anständiger Renovierungsarbeit durch TokTok und Westbam kaum Beachtung. Die Bewohner feiern sich selbst und die alten Fans freuen sich. Für den jungen Besucher zählt jedoch mehr als nur ein neuer Anstrich.

Es war schrill, es war laut, es hatte unglaublichen Stil.Die pure Essenz der damaligen Charts, mit unzähligen Hit-Giganten und Evergreens. Zeitsprung in Sekunden garantiert! Liebhaber, Fans und die gesamte Generation hat hier die Chance ein Premium-Produkt zu erwerben, welches zeitloser kaum sein kann. Das schlägt sich nicht nur im einzigartigen Design nieder, sondern auch in all den individuellen Erinnerungen rund um diese Lieder, die wir immer lieben werden.
