孤独的木匠爷爷这晚亲手制作了一个木偶男孩——皮诺曹。可能上天眷顾爷爷，午夜，蓝仙女显灵了，她让这个木偶男孩具有了意识，能像其他男孩那样跑跑跳跳了。获得了生命的皮诺曹兴奋不已，很快和屋子里的小动物交上了朋友。早上爷爷起来见到皮诺曹惊讶不已，他十分感激上天赐给他的礼物。
然而，皮诺曹很快就发现了自己和其他男孩子还是不一样，他没有肉体，不会疼痛，只有冰冷了木制躯体。他开始不满足于现状，梦想着找到蓝仙女让她将自己彻底变为一个真正的男孩子。于是，他踏上了旅程。

第二次世界战争爆发，远处太平洋的美利坚合众国也无法置身事外。全国上下同仇敌忾，提倡国家新精神。唐老鸭（克拉伦斯·纳什 Clarence Nash 配音）受到鼓舞，决心投身其中，他不在乎荣誉，也不害怕牺牲，不过对于政府所提的个人所得税缺稍显抵触。殊不知，个人所得税汇聚一起却可以产生对抗邪恶轴心的巨大力量。政府职员不厌其烦指导唐老鸭填写申报个人所得税的表格以及计算税收的方法。激动的唐老鸭甚至亲自将税款送到国税局。个人的力量虽然有限，但是集结全国的力量却可战胜任何入侵的敌人……
本片为迪士尼公司在二次世界大战期间被政府徵收后，应相关部门要求拍摄的系列宣传短片之一，并获1943年奥斯卡电影金像奖最佳纪录片提名。

这一天，唐老鸭来到了现代博物馆参观。进门处的投币口没有任何人看管，贪心无度的唐老鸭拿出用细线拴着的硬币放入投币孔，随后又把钱取了出来。占了便宜的他趾高气昂走进博物馆，看到这里面有各种各样的新奇发明，实在太令人开心了。正在这时，一个只有一只眼睛的笨重的黄色机器人走来，他自 称是机器人管家，出于礼仪他拿走了唐老鸭的帽子。唐老鸭很生气，不过很快又变出一顶礼帽。开心的唐老鸭继续前行，尝试了搭便车助手、自动包装机、机器人护理等有趣的机器，结果闹出不少的笑话。
而在这一过程中，执拗的机器人管家一定要拿走他的帽子……

Conrad Nagel, representing the Hollywood movie community, and Jack Benny, representing the Broadway stage community, act as the interlocutors of a musical comedy revue. A plethora of chorus boys and girls are featured front and center in some of the song and dance numbers, and provide back-up to some other acts. But the revue primarily is a vehicle to highlight a cavalcade of Hollywood movie and Broadway stage stars. One early running gag has both Nagel and Benny playing straight man to Cliff Edwards, who just wants a nice introduction to his act. Edwards would return later to be featured along with the Brox Sisters in one of the highlights of the second act, a production number around the song "Singin' in Rain", complete with rain soaked stage. A reprise of the song with the entire cast acts as the revue's finale.

Hosted by Jiminy Cricket along with Mickey Mouse and Tinker Bell, this special combines newly produced animation with clips from vintage animated Disney shorts and feature films, presented to the viewer as Christmas cards from the various characters starring in each one.
