Santo and Blue Demon Against the Monsters - 评论

PODCAST MACABRE 2025 51. Starring a Pro Wrestler Campy and silly fun with the two classic Lucha Libre stars. Unlike a lot of other Santo movies, this one doesn't seem to pretend that Santo is a brilliant scientist or detective outside of being a pro wrestler, but rather that fighting monsters is just something he does to blow off steam between matches. Lots of bad unconvincing monster makeup/performances and sub-Batman '66 fight choreography, plus a few background characters (like this weird little brain-gremlin who just kinda stands around the laboratory?) that reward your attention even if the movie's main text doesn't. The translated subtitles I was able to find on Youtube also had a few (unintentional?) howlers, like when the mad scientist's assistant Waldo discovers an "electronic vibrator" stuck in Frankenstein's* neck. *billed as "FRANQUESTAIN" in the opening credits.
