2019 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 41: Zombie Week + HOOPTOBER, NIGHT TWELVE: In spite of how this movie feels very much like a fast and cheap cash-in on Bela Lugosi's Dracula (released only the year before this), this was surprisingly fun. Bela looks like he's still enjoying himself at this point, and he gets to do basically all of his best Dracula bits while also portraying the physical embodiment of white colonialism. It's not the most enlightened movie on the subject of European exploitation of the West Indies, but I appreciated that the film's protagonists are all basically naive white bourgeois who run afoul of somebody who plays their game far more ruthlessly.
