Despite a few turds in the two-thirds full theatre being pretty shit -- one couple talked through much of the runtime at a volume that led me to believe they thought they had the theatre to themselves; another couple brought their, I don't know, 3-year-old? (who was actually mostly more well-behaved than the talking couple) to enjoy playing on their iPad at full brightness (luckily either on mute or with headphones) -- and the environmental/technological factors at play (there was a tornado watch or warning that made everyone's phone sound a weather alert, but all at separate times), and the theatre itself running the sound at a volume that had to've been 70% normal... Even after all of that, I was still able to find enjoyment watching The Drama unfold. As someone who can typically see many sides to a situation, I can understand why some are upset at how it was marketed, or with what the big reveal was without having some kind of warning ahead of time, but I also think those vocal few are likely the same folks who struggle to find value in art that challenges them. (Said in full acknowledgement of the privilege I have having not suffered any major traumas.) (And I'll still refrain from spoiling what you may already know.) While I'm not saying "this is art", I will say that it's a well written and acted movie and worthy of any conversation or debate that it may spark. If such things have already been spoiled and you know what's coming up and you think you can handle it, or even if it hasn't been spoiled and you don't mind gallows humor (it is pretty funny!), I think it's a movie worth seeing with a crowd. Even if the crowd is terrible. (I could probably go as high as 4.5, but won't.)
