Super low-budget Lovecraftian horror centered around the titular race of oceanic monsters and their proclivity for creating hybrid offspring with unsuspecting vacationers. You're essentially watching an average couple get weirded out by the locals on their coastal getaway as they gradually become caught up in the machinations of a cult. The acting and special effects are of course very shoddy, but it's almost worth putting up with if you have a hardcore interest in the Cthulhu mythos. If you don't then this will probably come off as little more than a particularly crummy creature feature with a few especially gross moments involving tentacles. There are a lot of things it does distinctly ineptly. Not least of all establishing a sense of tension and fear. In all honestly though I've seen a lot of less interesting concepts done quite a bit worse, and it's not like we're exactly swimming in Lovecraft adaptations these days (even though we do deserve much better). Look, I can't truly recommend you go out and see this as everything about it outside of the author's name on the cover is blatantly screaming "DO NOT WATCH!!" All I can say is I took the chance, checked it out, and walked from it ending up having not hated it. Do with that info what you will.
