1st Annual Criterion Challenge Week 26: Made in India I went into this one knowing very little other than that this was Ray's first film and that it was a coming-of-age story. I was blown away by both the overwhelming emotion of the narrative and how Ray subtly shifts the point-of-view over its course. That he was able to get these kinds of performances out of people who were not specifically professional actors (not to mention his inexperienced technical crew) is especially impressive, and I'm now very curious to see the rest of the trilogy.
