Although Godzilla's kid is the title of this movie, it isn't clear whether a partner was involved, and he doesn't play a huge role in the battling himself. The design of this Godzilla suit has oddly protruding eyes making for a cartoonish effect. The main antagonist is the giant spider Kumonga with a giant mantis monster basically incidental, and there are stretches of the movie where Godzilla is pretty much unconscious through exhaustion. There is no Japanese (miniature) city devastation or military maneuvers, no gangsters, no environmental messages, or many other mainstays of the franchise. On the plus side, the blood red lake setting was pretty eye-catching.
