a review of 独立日

I put this on to watch it up to the point when Harry Connick gets down on his knee and says "This is a wedding ring." to Will Smith, but then I was so engrossed by Jeff Goldblum so I watched a little more, and then the action is so well-paced I ended up watching a little more, and then Bill Pullman gives a nice speech after losing his wife, and then Randy Quaid is a drunk but you love him anyway, and Judd Hirsch is endearing and then *snap* - like that! - 2 hours and 26 minutes just went by like nothing. 2.5 hours like nothing! Shit holds up.
