HOOPTOBER ORIGINS 2.0 NIGHT THIRTY: Pure spookshow corn, served up the way only James Wan can. There's something absolutely brilliant about how this movie can bring up one totally ridiculous supernatural concept after another, and completely sell it a minute later by having Wilson/Farmiga deliver an edge-of-tears expository monologue about how they've seen this before, but never so intense or all in one place. None of it should work, but that's why Wan is a master of this stuff.
