ℍ𝕆𝕆ℙ𝕋𝕆𝔹𝔼ℝ 𝔼𝕃𝔼𝕍𝔼ℕ ℕ𝕀𝔾ℍ𝕋 𝕋𝕎𝔼ℕ𝕋𝕐: Hard to really encapsulate this one in a short blurb, but I admire the degree to which Guadagnino sticks to the Taylor Russell character's POV for all of our information about the setting. We aren't given an explanation of where she or the other "eaters" came from or why they exist, it's just a fact of life. We're not meant to ruminate too hard on how these people might move through the world, but we are given clues through the behavior of the characters she meets; The answer seems to be opportunistic happenstance at best, vicious bloody murder at worst. Her relationship with Chalamet's character points to maybe a different way of living for them, but we barely get to glimpse it before that stability is finally broken.
