2022 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 37: RICHARD HARRISON WEEK A pretty by-the-numbers spaghetti western, aside from the funky theme song (famously repurposed and recontextualized by Tarantino for Django Unchained) it feels almost like a throwback to an earlier era of B-westerns. The script doesn't give Harrison much to make himself stand out from other western heroes, but he's a solid presence as a genre lead even if his character feels fairly rote. It is kind of hilarious to see Klaus Kinski turn up as the least surprising villain in history, with the direction of his first few scenes trying desperately not to call attention to his obvious malice, even as he's standing there with that wild mop of blond hair and eyes like two runny fried eggs.
