2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 7: LUCIO FULCI WEEK This one took me by surprise. It's less of a stereotypical giallo (at least as far as what I expect when I see the word) and more of a detective procedural spiced up with some giallo-like elements. Although I twigged to the crucial twist a little earlier than I think was intended, part of me wonders if it might have been more effective in 1972, a little before the Catholic Church became synonymous with endemic child abuse. There's a scene in the middle that is exactly like something from a Tarantino film, where you have grievous violence being underscored with an ironic/apropos pop music drop, to the point where I have to assume that this is a direct influence.
