1ST ANNUAL CRITERION CHALLENGE WEEK 15: THE 1930S Finally crossing this one off of my to-watch list, and the thing I found most surprising is how sophisticated it feels in its storytelling. Although in many ways this is kind of the ur-crime procedural, it's about a lot more than just the cat-and-mouse chase between the police and Lorre's child killer. The introduction early on of the black marketeers (and the whole underclass of people working for them) adds a realistic dimension to the story that I didn't know existed in crime dramas from this time.
