There's something to be said about seeing the same actor in the same role across multiple movies spanning over a number of years; it's really kind of endearing, and made even more so when the character is as enjoyable to watch as Antoine Doinel (just an effusively effortless Jean-Pierre Léaud). How could one not smile when Antoine smirks while being reprimanded? How could anyone not joyously giggle at the slap-stick shenanigans causing Antoine to fumble through life? And François Truffaut's direction here is magnifique! The movie is filled with these little slices of life of these tertiary characters that do nothing for the plot but do everything to make the world feel so alive. Excited to see what comes next for Antoine!
